Clare Childcare Provider Says Sector Can’t Survive Without Systemic Changes

A Clare childcare provider is urging the Government to follow the footsteps of other countries who’ve implemented an adequate childcare system.

Around 200 childcare professionals attended a protest outside Leinster House yesterday, calling for the proposed fee freeze to be scrapped.

The Federation of Early Childcare Providers also wants a subsidy of 100 euro per week per child under the updated scheme, instead of the 69 euro that’s currently available.

Creche Manager of the Clare Family Resource Centre, Maureen Keane isn’t optimistic this will happen but she insists a system that works has to be put in place to prevent further closures, as providers are only just breaking even now.
