The Chief Superintendent of the Clare Garda Division says current resources may be prioritised in this county to attempt to tackle economic crime.
It follows detections of fraud and other economic incidents here more than doubling between November and January compared to the same time last year.

Senior personnel are now examining whether a dedicated economic unit within Clare’s crime investigation team is needed.
Chief Superintendent Sean Colleran says it would not involve additional resources, but would instead refocus priorities of the Division.
