The Clare branch of the St. Vincent de Paul is urging people here to stop using moneylenders and turn to charitable organisations if they are in financial difficulties.

The charity’s comments follow the release of Central Bank figures which show 360,000 people in Ireland turned to moneylenders last year, a 20% increase in the last five years.
