Clare Charity Donations Sustained Despite Recession

Clare residents have continued to show generosity in recent years, despite the recession.

Figures released this week show that since 2007, well over 400 thousand euro a year has been donated by parishioners in the Diocese of Killaloe to relief agencies such as Trocaire.

The money has supported the group's work in the developing world, while money has also been donated in response to disasters, including Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and the Haitian Earthquake of 2010.

Killaloe Diocesan spokesman Fr. Brendan Quinlivan says people here have helped make a real difference.
