The Chairman of the Vintners Association in Clare says renewed Government support is vital for the industry.
It follows the release of figures from a new report which show that almost quarter of a million overseas tourists visited the banner county in 2013, spending 94 million euro.
The report, commissioned for the Support Your Local Campaign, also shows tourists visiting Ireland spent 21 per cent of their holiday expenditure on food and drink with 31 per cent eating meals in pubs.
Charlie O'Meara says new initiatives, such as serving pub grub, has given a much needed boost to the industry but he believes more needs to be done at Government level to sustain that success.
