A Clare Independent election candidate is calling for the establishment of a new capital city for Ireland.

Dermot Mulqueen, an artist from the Gort Road, declared his intention to run last week, to bring the total field in the county to 16.
Mr. Mulqueen says far too much of the country's economic activity is concentrated in Dublin and other urban areas.
He claims the building of a new capital in the Midlands would help stimulate more rural parts of Ireland.
