Clare Campaigner Urges Government To Improve Rights Of People With Disabilities

A Clare disabilities campaigner is calling on the Government to do more to improve the rights of people with disabilities.

It comes as large crowds march outside the Dáil today to support those with disabilities and highlight Ireland’s delay in ratifying the UN Convention on rights for Disabled people – ten years on.

Ireland is the only EU country not to ratify the Convention, which intends to change the view of disabled people from objects of charity, medical treatment and social protection to subjects with rights.
