Clare business people urged to attend meeting over commercial rates

Under pressure businesses across Clare are being urged to attend a meeting in Shannon tonight to express their views on commercial rates.

With an alarming number of business closures in recent years, local traders are expected to voice concerns about the rates they pay to Clare County Council for water and local services ahead of this year’s council budget.

Shannon Petrol Station owner Darragh O’Connor had his water cuts off earlier this year for non-payment of rates, but has since made efforts to pay back outstanding money to the Council.

He’s organised a meeting at the Oakwood Arms at 7pm as feels there’s no relief in sight for business people like him
