Clare-Born Priest Calls For Boycott Of TV License Following Fair City Confession Protrayal

A Clare-born priest is accusing RTE of ‘nitpicking’ and attempting to find fault with the Catholic Church.

It follows a scene in Fair City last weekend, which portrayed a character confessing to a priest that he had fathered her child when they were teenagers.

RTE insists there was no intention to cause offence with the storyline in question.

Fr Kevin McNamara, who is a native of Cooraclare and a parish priest in Moyvane, Co. Kerry, claims the portrayal of the matter is insulting to the Church.

He’s questioning whether people of Catholic faith should continue to support the state broadcaster.
