A stark warning has been issued by the Kilmaley man, who is head of Trocaire, that people will die this winter if Europe doesn't present a united front in dealing with the refugee crisis.
Eamon Meehan has just returned from Lebanon where one and a quarter million Syrian refugees are living in hundreds of camps across the country, which he says provide inadequate protection against winter conditions.
He says there's a strong sense of dispair among those who have been forced to leave their country and that many of them feel there's no end in sight to the end of the worsening war in Syria.
Eamon says refugees fear they have been forgotten about at a time when the situation is getting worse
