A Clare based Campaign Group is calling for new laws to protect people in nursing homes and state run institutions from abuse today.

Support Link was formed by a number of Clare residents who have campaigned on the issue of elder abuse previously through personal or professional experience.
Following a recent television expose on the abuse of vulnerable adults and elderly people in a HSE Psychiatric Care facility they say they've been contacted by many other families concerned about the care of their loved ones and the group is expanding as a result.
Thy're calling for politicians to introduce a specific Elder Abuse & Vulnerable Adult Protection Act at a press conference in Dublin this afternoon.
