A Clare-based company is advancing plans for a major drilling scheme.

Hannan Metals is to begin drilling to test geological, seismic and soil targets on zinc, lead and silver prospects at it’s site at Kilbricken, near Ennis.

The programme is expected to involve 20 kilometres of drilling and is a major expansion of the company’s exploration.

The expansion expansion of the diamond drilling follows a total of 6,454 metres of drilling in 2017 which focused on expanding the Kilbricken resource.

The group also completed a 41 kilometre seismic survey over the licence area and collected close to 1,000 geochemical surface samples in 2017.

These samples defined the seven new anomalous areas within the 35,444 hectare licence area which will be the focus of the planned drilling programme in the current year.

The company, which is listed in Toronto, raised 4.8 million Canadian Dollars at the beginning of last year to help fund activity at its site in Co. Clare.

Hannan Chief Executive,  Michael Hudson has said they’re “delighted with the progress” made since it took the project public, after it purchased the company from Lundig Mining in a US$1million deal.

He says “we now own outright one of the few high-grade zinc-rich sulphide discoveries made over the last decade in Ireland”.

“We have established a maiden resource estimate which our drilling has already expanded, while our seismic and geochemical work has unlocked the potential which will form the basis for current and future drilling targets” he concluded.
