Clare’s local representatives have backed calls for an amnesty for Irish natives living illegally in the USA.
At their monthly meeting last evening, Clare County Council called on the Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Foreign Affairs Minister Eamon Gilmore to reopen immigration reform talks with the American Government.
Councillors admit it could be difficult for US Officials to grant a legal amnesty to Irish nationals exclusively
However, former TD and Ennis Councillor James Breen says it’s clear something has to be done.
