A Clare Auctioneer believes over-regulation of Airbnbs will lead to a mass exodus of landlords from the market.
The Department of Tourism is attempting to introduce the Short-Term Tourist Letting Bill, which would require hosts making their premises available to tourists for longer than 21 days, to apply for change of use planning permission.
Despite an EU directive deeming the Government’s proposals to be ‘too restrictive’, new figures show there are 995 short term lets currently available in the county comparted to just 15 houses and apartments available to rent for long term use.
