Clare Auctioneer Claims Government’s Latest Housing Proposal Is “No Silver Bullet”

A Clare Auctioneer believes the latest government housing proposal provides “no silver bullet” when it comes to solving the national accommodation crisis.

In a letter to the Enterprise Minister, Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien has put forward a proposal seeking to convert office space to apartments, with many Celtic Tiger-era apartments lying idle across the country.

At the end of last year there were 29,581 vacant commercial units in Ireland, up from 4,000 at the end of 2013, while Shannon Town currently possesses the highest vacancy rate of any town nationwide.
