The Clare representative of the ASTI has expressed doubt that talks aimed at resolving the teachers dispute will yield positive results.
Senior members of the teachers' union will sit down with officials at the Department of Education today, to try and avert industrial action and prevent the closure of hundreds of secondary schools across the country.
The first of seven days of strike action is scheduled for tomorrow week, but teachers will withdraw from supervision and substitution duties from November 7th, after the mid-term break.
The Department's begun a major drive to recruit, train and roster people to cover those services.
Peter Quinn, a teacher at St Flannan's College in Ennis, says they won't back down from their cause.
