Clare’s ASTI representative has expressed concern, after it’s emerged that secondary schools are struggling to fill vacant teaching posts.
A Red C survey has revealed that three quarters received no applications for teaching vacancies, with unfilled teaching vacancies in almost half of all second-level schools.

The survey of teachers and school leaders was undertaken in March, with over 80% of principals surveyed admitting that they had hired at least one unqualified teacher in this school year.
Kilkee based teacher Geraldine O’Brien says there are a number of factors contributing to the issue.
