A Clare Artist says the extension of the basic income scheme is vital for the future of the sector.
Under the programme, artists and those working in the creative arts such as musicians, writers and sculptors can receive a payment of €325 per week to support their work.

An analysis of a control group of artists not availing of the scheme over the last three years, found that 50% were in deprivation, and struggled to afford basic neccessities.
