Clare And Dublin Fire Services Express Halloween Concerns

Firefighters are urging Dublin City Council to lift water restrictions tonight – as Halloween is one of the busiest nights of the year.

The Irish Fire and Emergency Services Association says they may not be able to put out major blazes this evening because of the water shortages.

Over a million people are affected by the restrictions in Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow, which arose following a production problem at the Ballymore Eustace treatment plant.

Dublin City Council insists the water shortages will actually help firefighters.

Clare’s emergency services are bracing for a busy night, and are calling for people to ensure they enjoy their Halloween celebrations safely.

The county’s fire service has issued calls for people not to light bonfires, which they say are illegal as well as costly.

Gardai are asking parents to accompany children while trick or treating and to take precautions like wearing high visibility clothing when heading out on the roads.
