Clare Among Most At-Risk Counties For Sinkholes

Clare has been identified as one of the counties in Ireland that is most at risk of sinkholes opening up.

Gamma, a location intelligence software and services provider, has carried out a survey of the country which puts Clare, along with Galway and Roscommon, at the top of the list.

It follows a sinkhole which opened at Magheracloone in Co. Monaghan, due to the partial collapse of a mine beneath the ground.

In Clare’s case, it’s down to the type of rock the county sits on, as Feargal O’Neill from Gamma explains.
