The average price paid for an acre of good quality land in Clare has fallen by 6% in the last year.
Teagasc and the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland’s latest annual report shows that Clare’s land prices are the fourth lowest in the country.
The average price per acre of good quality non-residential land on holdings below 50 acres was €9,875 in Clare last year, which is down from a price of €10,500 in 2023.
Similar trends were also seen on holdings of between 50 and 100 acres in Clare, where the average price is now €10,125 per acre for good land, down €375 on the previous year.
Clare’s poor quality land increased in value significantly however, rising 20% from €5,375 per acre in 2023 to €6,500 per acre.
When it came to holdings of over 101 acres, Clare’s poor quality land was the second cheapest in the country coming in at a price of €3,200 per acre, with less expensive plots of land only available in Mayo.
Waterford had the most expensive non-residential land in the country, with less than 50 acres of good quality land on the market for €23,000 per acre on average.
Teagasc and the Society of Chartered Surveyors are predicting that land prices across the board will increase by 6% this year.
