Clare Affordable Housing Schemes Will Target Those Earning Between 50K And 70K

An East Clare Councillor claims rural communities are hemorrhaging young people due to a lack of affordable housing.

The local authority is set to carry out a countywide analysis of the demand for the accommodation, that is currently only available in Ennis and Shannon.

Senior Executive Officer, Padráig MacCormaic told this month’s council meeting that those earning between €50,000 and €70,000 per year will be the target market for the scheme here, which works on a shared equity basis.

 

Whitegate Fine Gael Councillor Pat Burke says the scheme needs to be extended as a matter of urgency.
