Today is the UN-sanctioned International Day Of Disabilities, which aims to promote an understanding of disability issues.

Around 13.5 percent of the Irish population is estimated to have at least one recognised disability.

 

Clare Leader Forum member Dermot Hayes says disabled adults living in nursing homes is a particular issue that needs to be addressed.
