A Clare climate activist claims the absence of advice to cull the national herd number in our Climate Action Plan means we won’t meet the targets set at COP26 to reduce global methane emissions.
The international climate summit continues in Glasgow today and it’s been confirmed the Environment Minister will attend.
Eamon Ryan had tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, and had initially cancelled plans to attend, however he had a second PCR test which came back negative and was given the green light to travel.
Last week more than 80 countries, including Ireland, pledged to reduce methane emissions by 30% globally.
Aisling Wheeler of Extinction Rebellion Clare feels, however, there’s a huge contrast between our promises on the worldwide stage and the plans the government have now put in place at a national level.
She says we need to address herd numbers now.
