Clare Academic Says Ukraine’s Future To Be “Decided On the Battlefield”

A Clare academic has said that peace remains a distant prospect in spite of Ukraine’s successful counterattack against Russia in defence of the city of Bakhmut.

The Russian Defence Ministry claimed yesterday that two of its commanders had been killed as the two countries fought for control of the heavily embattled region.

The counter-offensive represents Ukraine’s first successful military operation in Bakhmut which has been considered a frontline of the war since Russia commenced a shelling campaign of the city in May 2022.
