A man whose husband was airlifted to hospital after suffering two brain aneurysms has called for a helicopter pad to be installed in Kilrush.

Crusheen residents Tristan and Scott Casson-Rennie were visiting the West Clare town just over a month ago to socialise with friends, but emergency services were alerted when Scott began to feel extrememly unwell after waking up in the morning.

Scott was brought to Kilrush GAA grounds, from where he was airlifted to Cork University Hospital, however there was a slight delay as soggy ground meant his gourney had to be lifted by ambulance personnel to the helicopter.

Scott has received treatment and is now recovering, but his husband Tristan believes having a hard-standing heli-pad at the pitch could be the difference between life and death for someone else.
