The group has held a meeting at the Univerity of Limerick to decide on its strategy in the region for the coming a year, with the marketing of the tourist trail at the centre of that plan.

Ryanair's former Deputy CEO says air access is crucial to the success of the trail, with 9 out of 10 people visiting the Midwest travelling here by plane.

Michael Cawley believes Shannon is ideally placed to capitalise on the Wild Atlantic Way's growing popularity.
