It's claimed that more people in Clare should be attending the injuries unit at the county hospital.
Last year, over 9,000 people attended the unit at Ennis General Hospital which is one 11 such facilities now in place across the country.
It's open 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm and can treat both adults and children aged five and over for injuries requiring overnight admission to hospital.
Consultant Dr Cormac Mehigan says many people are continuing to travel to overcrowded Emergency Departments in Limerick and Galway with injuries that can be treated quickly in Ennis:
