The Fianna Fáil motion also provides for an appeals mechanism for those who have been denied cover, and has been supported by Sinn Féin, Labour, Anti Austerity Alliance and opposition Independents.
That's despite Govenrment concerns that it could lead to higher premiums.
A vote on the matter is due to be taken tomorrow and Deputy Timmy Dooley hopes it will gain the support it needs to get across the line.
