Claims That 8 Million Euro Loan Could Help People Buy Houses From Local Authority

It's being proposed that Clare County Council draw down a loan of 8 million euro to help people buy their houses from the local authority. 

Under the Shared Ownership Scheme, those living in council houses can purchase 75% of the property, with the council itself holding onto 25%. 

Now, Shannon Councillor Gerry Flynn says money should be borrowed, which in turn could be loaned to residents who wish to buy their home in full. 

Councillor Flynn says the loan could be provided at a very competitive rate.
