Claims Planning Process Urgently Needs Examination Following Shell Withdrawal From Clare Floating Wind Farm Project

A West Clare Councillor is warning that planning processes urgently need to be examined amid concern that targets for offshore wind cannot be met.

It follows the decision by Shell to pull out of the Irish renewables market, having only agreed a deal to acquire a 51% share in the Western Star Floating wind project off the Clare coast last November.

Simply Blue, the company driving the project, says it’s fully committed to the project and is progressing towards a new strategic partnership.
