There are calls for Clare County Council to end the practise of grass-cutting at only some of the county's housing estates, but not others.

Currently, the council cuts grass on estates build before a certain date, with the responsibilty falling on local residents elsewhere.

Meelick Councillor Cathal Crowe claims the current system "discriminatory" and that the Local Authority should be offering the same level of service to all residents here.

The Fianna Fail representative believes this should be affordable for the council, particularly in light of changes to the Local Property Tax.
