Claims Ordinary Farmers Will Lose Out Over New CAP Proposals

The Clare County Chair of the IFA insists many farmers will lose out if CAP proposals go ahead in their current form.

The European Commission has announced it’s proposals for the Common Agricultural Policy from 2021 to 2027, which include a new agri-environmental scheme and a 2 per cent fund for young farmers.

It’s part of efforts to modernise and simplify the CAP with a budget of 365 billion euro and while small and young farmers will benefit, there will be less money available to higher-earning farmers.
