Claims That Midwest’s Reduced Living Costs Attracting High Skilled Workers

It’s claimed highly skilled professionals are choosing to move to the Midwest because of reduced living costs here.

A dramatic increase in the jobs market over recent years and a better balance between working and home lives are part of the benefits of relocating to Limerick and the Mid West region.

That’s the findings of the Mid West Relocation Survey which has been launched today.

It explores the social and economic benefits of moving to this region – and reveals a massive 88 percent of respondents moved here for the quality of life.

66 percent also cited the reduced cost of living as a reason for their move, while, more than half of the respondents claimed they were “very satisfied” with their decision to move.

Niall O’Callaghan from the IDA’s Midwest office says the results of the survey can help them attract further foreign direct investment to this region.

It comes as the IDA’s half-year figures show Clare is among the top six counties nationwide for IDA jobs announcements so far this year.

The announcement of 100 jobs by Shannon-based diamond manufacturers Element Six was highlighted by the semi-state company as one of the most significant developments of the year.
