It’s claimed the latest government fuel hikes are unfairly penalising families in rural Clare.
Since January 1st, the price of Petrol and Diesel has risen by 2 cent per litre, due to mandated increases in biofuel proportions at the pump.
It’s the fourth hike in the last twelve months, following excise duty and carbon tax measures, and the AA now estimates the average annual cost for a family to run a car is over €10,000.
Clare Aontú Representative June Dillon says vulnerable households are suffering the most.
