It’s claimed a lack of wastewater infrastructure in Doolin is ‘holding back economic progress’ in the coastal village.
Elected representatives have called on the local authority to make the selection process and criteria for a new 50 million euro wastewater infrastructure plan clearer after it was announced last month.
Clare County Council has until September to lodge applications on behalf of towns and villages, with the likes of Doolin, Carrigaholt, Cooraclare and Broadford among those hoping to be put forward for inclusion.
Lisdoonvarna-based Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy says the ‘economic popularity’ of coastal areas in Clare risks being lost if they’re left without proper wastewater facilities.
