An Ennis-based retail lobby group claims stagnant consumer spending throughout 2024 will lead to budgeting difficulties for small businesses in the new year.
2024 was initially forecasted as a positive year for SME’s after a bright start, but spending dramatically reduced in the second half of the year.
The CEO of Retail Excellence Ireland says this fact coupled with rising overhead costs has challenged the existence of small businesses in the second half of this year.
Jean McCabe, who is also the Owner of Willow in Ennis, says in 2025 businesses will have implement efficiency measures to ensure business is viable.
