Claims Kilrush Road Encampment Could Be Costing Taxpayer Over €200,000 Per Year

It’s been suggested that an illegal encampment in Ennis could be costing the taxpayer in excess of €200,000 a year.

At this month’s meeting of Ennis Municipal District, Ballybeg Fianna Fáil Councillor Clare Colleran-Molloy requested an update on the council’s legal efforts to address the “longstanding illegal encampment” on the Kilrush Road in Ennis.

Ennis Municipal District has confirmed High Court and Supreme Court orders have been issued “prohibiting trespass and unauthorised development by any persons other than one named household and a carer” but legal action is ongoing.
