“Drugs culture” is being blamed for recent anti-social behaviour in Ennis.
The matter has been raised at this month’s meeting of the Ennis Municipal District, following a number of instances of violent and non-violent crime which have taken place in the county town within the last few weeks, including an incident at Ennis Train Station in which several cars were broken into and their glove boxes ransacked.
Councillor Claire Colleran Molloy has called on the Municipal District to make contact with Gardaí to “establish what efforts are underway to address the ongoing and accelerating anti-social behaviour in Ennis”.
The Ballybeg Fianna Fáil councillor believes if Gardaí were more visible in the town, it would be a greater deterrent for criminals.
