It’s claimed the latest drip feed of information and the statement from Clare-based broadcaster Marty Morrissey throws RTÉ into even greater disarray.
RTE was further embroiled in controversy after the sports journalist apologised for what he says was an “error of judgement” on his part to accept the use of a car from Renault.
Marty Morrissey described it as an “ad hoc” arrangement, as he didn’t seek a fee for events nationwide, Renault offered him the use of the car instead.
Senator Marie Sherlock says the Oireacthas Media Committee was told a car was returned on Tuesday, whereas the Clare-based RTÉ Sports reporter identified a date in June for its return.
RTÉ has since clarified that while the vehicle was returned in June, management only became aware of that this week.
However Senator Sherlock says it generate further speculation about what other car deals may have been agreed.
