It’s being argued developing a historic Ennis building as part of a broader cultural quarter would “further establish County Clare as a leading centre for arts and culture”.
Clare County Council has confirmed it’s progressing preliminary proposals for the redevelopment of the former De Valera library site in Ennis.
It says there’s an opportunity to explore the site’s role “within a broader cultural quarter for Ennis, building on the town’s existing cultural, community, artistic and heritage assets”.
Clarecastle Fianna Fáil Councillor Tom O’Callaghan, who called for unused public buildings to be considered for such a space at the latest meeting of the local authority, believes it would be beneficial to the town.
