Claims “Deep Scrutiny” Of Clinical Advice Needed To Ensure Ennis ED Reopens

The Midwest Hospital Campaign Group insists deep scrutiny of clinical advice is needed to ensure the Emergency Department at Ennis Hospital is reopened.

It follows the HSE Chief Clinical Office’s issuing of a written response to the group outlining the reasons why it doesn’t support the reopening of the A&Es at Ennis, Nenagh and St. John’s.

Among the reasons given is the absence of an intensive care unit, access to emergency surgery and timely access to diagnostic modalities such as point-of-care ultrasound and CT scanning at the three facilities.

 

Midwest Hospital Campaign Group spokesperson and Ennis Social Democrats Local Election candidate, Hilary Tonge says the fight must continue because of the vulnerable situation people in the Midwest are in at present.
