Clare recipients of the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant are said to be “under huge pressure” to complete works within the allotted period.
Clare County Council is set to write to the Housing Minister requesting the build time requirements of the Croí Cónaithe Scheme be extended from 18 to 24 months following a motion raised by Ennis Councillor Mary Howard at this month’s meeting of the local authority.
149 applications have been approved so far in this county for the scheme which which provides assistance to those turning a house or building which has been vacant for two years at the time of application into a permanent home or rental property.
Fine Gael Councillor Howard says those availing of the grant need some breathing room due to the time it takes to get certain jobs done.
