It’s claimed the level of disability housing grants approved in Clare is not going far enough to make a real difference.
So far this year, the local authority has issued 625 grants to a value of €3.7m, which is an average of €5,920 per person.

The scheme allows for adaptions such as ramps, grab rails, bathroom facilities, stair lifts, extensions and hoists, but does not cover VAT costs.
Clare Leader Forum Chairperson Padraic Hayes says it’s simply not good enough.
