Claims Beef Exports To Chinese Market Will Only Be Significant If Farmers See Dividends

The Clare-based General Secretary of the ICSA insists that steps need to be taken to ensure that farmers here profit from beef exports to China.

Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed says after years of hard work, the Chinese authorities will this week confirm access for Irish Beef exports.

They banned beef from the EU and US during the BSE crisis in 2000, and while that ban was officially lifted three years ago, trade still hasn’t resumed.

Despite this, our exports to China were worth almost a billion Euro last year and Minister Creed says this move will give farmers access to the biggest market on the planet.
