A Lahinch councillor claims all heavy tourist traffic is bringing to the seaside town is toilet paper.

Fine Gael Councillor Bill Slattery is calling on the local authority to redirect camper vans and buses from the Lahinch Promenade Car Park to the Liscannor Road Car Park amid serious congestion issues.

He claims there were more than 25 camper vans parked at the prom on Friday and Saturday night last weekend and this is understood to be causing a severe waste management problem.

In response, Clare County Council has committed to engaging with consultants equipped to design appropriate bus turning circles and other essential infrastructure for the car park to ensure the facility meets operational and safety standards.

Speaking at last evening’s meeting of West Clare Municipal District, Councillor Slattery highlighted the urgent need for a solution to parkin chaos.
