Church To Lose Right To Arbitrarily Appoint Teachers

The Catholic Church will lose the right to arbitrarily appoint teachers when a rule change kicks in later.

The Department of Education is trying to ensure that all school jobs are filled through open competition.

It comes after Fr Ignatius McCormack was appointed as principal of St. Flannan’s College in Ennis, having been appointed to that role by Bishop Fintan Monahan.
