A prominent Clare priest says his parishoners fully back Clare County Council calls to stop political parties engaging in church gate collections.

Clare County Council has passed a motion calling for an end to the practice, two years after a survey of mass-goers in Shannon found they too were unanimously against it.
Parish Priest in the town Fr. Tom Ryan feels political parties would not collect funds outside of churches if they listened to the calls of the public.
