An Choill Bheag Initiative To Plant 800 Native Trees In Shannon

The Cathaoirleach of the Shannon Municipal District hopes a new tree planting scheme will sow inspiration for similar projects in Clare.

Shannon Municipal District has helped launch the Choill Beag initiative to plant 800 native trees across four locations in the county.

The LEAF Ireland and An Taisce initiative this month planted the first 200 native trees with students from St John’s National School in Shannon.

Shannon Sinn Féin Councillor Donna McGettigan says the local wetland should be used for education of children and adults.
