Clare is set to be twinned with a Chinese province.
The County Council are proposing the twinning with Yunnan following the visit of China’s Premier Xi Jinping to the county last year.

The Council has confirmed that it has been in touch with the Chinese embassy and the Department of Foreign Affairs regarding the matter. Yunnan province has a population of 46 million people and is rich in tourism and culture.
